Bluetooth : Transmit Power Level Control Issue

Hi all,

We tried to change the Bluetooth’s transmit power level by using the following commands

root@tegra-ubuntu:/home/ubuntu# hciconfig hci0 -a inqtpl
hci0: Type: BR/EDR Bus: UART
BD Address: 00:04:4B:66:40:93 ACL MTU: 1021:8 SCO MTU: 64:1
        Inquiry transmit power level: 0

But If we tried to change the inqtpl from 0 to 4, like

root@tegra-ubuntu:/home/ubuntu# hciconfig hci0 -a inqtpl 4
root@tegra-ubuntu:/home/ubuntu# hciconfig hci0 -a inqtpl
hci0: Type: BR/EDR Bus: UART
BD Address: 00:04:4B:66:40:93 ACL MTU: 1021:8 SCO MTU: 64:1
        Inquiry transmit power level: 0

Transmit Power Level can’t able to change.

Questions:
How to change the transmit power level?
Is there any other option to change the transmit power Level instead of hciconfig command?

Thanks,
Mohan

Hi mohanprasath_12,

As I know, only class 1 bluetooth device is able to change the transmit level. I will confirm whether our chip is level 1.

Hi mohanprasath_12,
Changing power level could bring product in violation of compliance rule so we can’t support such request.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hi Wayne,

We would like to increase the Bluetooth range. So, will increase the transmit power level affects the range?

If is not the case, Is there any way to increase the Bluetooth Range?

Is our chip a class 1 Bluetooth device?

Just confirmed that we don’t have solutions to increase bluetooth range, because we cannot change the power level. I am sorry.
