Bug Report - RTX Pro 2000 driver crash

Hello !

We are trying the new RTX Pro 2000 in replacement for RTX 2000 Ada in our IPC running Ubuntu, but the driver crashes when loading Xorg or Wayland session (GPU has fallen off the bus).

I’ve tested so far (all OS are up to date):

  • Ubuntu 24.04 with 590.48 (nvidia-driver-590-open) and 580.126 (nvidia-driver-580-open), and kernel 6.14 (logs attached for 590.48)
  • Ubuntu and Kubuntu 25.10 with 590.48 (nvidia-driver-590-open) and kernel 6.17
  • Manjaro (january 2026) with 590.48
  • Fedora 43 with 580.95 (akmod-nvidia) and kernel 6.18

All theses versions are marked compatible with this card in the drivers search results.

nouveau works fine with Fedora, and in safe mode with Ubuntu.

In the words of an NV eng:

Given that Nouveau works fine, it’s probably BIOS/UEFI firmware incompatibility, so check for updates.
It is however also possible that Nouveau is not able to squeeze every last bit of performance from your card as the NV’s driver does, so PSU/cooling is still possible (but much less likely).

I tested the GPU on an Asus Prime X570-P I was not using, and updated the BIOS to 5044 (built the 04/10/2026). If resize BAR is disabled, I have the crash, but none when enabled.

I will reach our IPC manufacturer if resize BAR is available or enabled by default on the motherboard since I don’t see the setting in the UEFI.

Thanks for pointing me the BIOS issue!

We did not have any clues from our IPC manufacturer on why it is not working yet, my distributor is asking if they are parameters motherboard manufacturers generally need to tweak in their custom BIOS when upgrading BIOS to support Blackwell GPUs ? My distributor will send a sample to the manufacturer in the following days so they can reproduce the problem on their side.

The manufacturer identified the cause of the crash in the motherboard BIOS, and will release a new version by the end of the month.
