CUDA Badaboom / Stream Avivo video encoding

A new interesting analysis of the two big GPU video encoders. You can see the tangled aftermath when technology and marketing collide head-on.

The most interesting test is when they are able to get AMD’s encoding software to run with an NVidia 260GTX GPU instead of an AMD GPU.

Anandtech covered much of the same issue previously, but this is a new independent test.

Well, based on their results, it looks more like some kind of misconfiguration resulted in Avivo using a CPU-only code path. In that case, it would be fair to say that the Avivo encoder did not run on the ATI or NVIDIA cards in their test. :)

Badaboom looked pretty good, though.
