custom built opencv 3.4.0 following nvidia advice not working

Hey so i built opencv 3.4.0 using this script:

I Turned off CUDA for the script too because it was giving me errors.

after running with cv2.videocapture(0) which i expect to not work i get these errors:

The error looks like that openCV cannot access your camera.
Could you help to execute the GStreamer command directly on the console to see if works?

Running this through i do get output of the sensor information. But when i run any command through gstreamer, such as:

gst-inspect-1.0 nvarguscamerasrc

Please note this does finish it’s output but it prints the errors first before outputting.

nvarguscamerasrc is for Bayer sensors. Maybe your camera is not a Bayer sensor? Also are you on r32.1?
You should be able to build OpenCV with CUDA if you install full system image and packages through SDK manager/Jetpack. Seems certain packages are missed in your system.

You need to check your sensor driver first. For using Argus, the sensor driver has to be programmed accordingly. Please refer to [Sensor Driver Programming Guide] in Welcome — Jetson Linux<br/>Developer Guide 34.1 documentation
Or contact camera vendor for help.

Comment #9 shows the log of running default camera board ov5693. It should recognize the camera and print out [Available Sensor modes].

And just remembered to mention this. I’m running the Jetson headless with x2go but it still wouldn’t work with the HDMI cable connected and not connected to an x2go session or an ssh session.

It should be something wrong in your environment. Please follow below steps to verify it on devkit:

  1. Install whole package through SDKManager
  2. Remove OpenCV 3.3.1
sudo apt-get purge "libopencv*"
  1. Execute the script to install OpenCV3.4.0
$ mkdir OpenCV
<s>$ ./install_opencv3.4.0_Xavier.sh OpenCV</s>
$ ./install_opencv3.4.0_TX2.sh OpenCV
$ sudo ldconfig -v
  1. Make sure OpenCV is in correct version

We have verified the steps on r32.1/TX2. You may try to run it successfully first. It is a bit strange it even fails in gst-launch-1.0. Looks to be something wrong in your system.
