Deepstream python app test1 app quit error

Hi all,

In Jetson nano platform, I modify deepstream_python_app_test1, the result video save as out.h264 and do not show video on screen.

the code works well with the sample_720p.h264 video. I can get a valid video.

my question is when I want to quit while the code is running, I get a video with error, which can not play. so is there any method to handle this case . Plus, I think the case is really important for realtime video (csi frame from jetson)

Hi,
For generating a playable MP4, you would need to send end of stream before stopping the pipeline. If you would like to stop arbitrarily, you may encode into MKV. MAy also try hardware encoder to run like:

... ! nvv4l2h264enc ! h264parse ! matroskamux ! filesink location=out.mkv

thanks DaneLLL
I will try this method.

for more, I wonder if there’s a sample code to show how to send end of stream before stopping the pipeline when using to generate a playable MP4 video?

Hi,
For sending EoS, please refer to this sample:
Nvoverlaysink ignores properties when pipeline is restarted - #6 by DaneLLL

The code is

    print("Send EoS")
    Gst.Element.send_event(pipeline, Gst.Event.new_eos())
    # wait until EOS or error
    bus = pipeline.get_bus()
    msg = bus.timed_pop_filtered(
        Gst.CLOCK_TIME_NONE, Gst.MessageType.EOS)
