Does one need a UFM license for every IB Node inside the fabric? What about old, legacy system?

Dear Mellanox team,

we have rather heterogeneous cluster, old and new server hardware, connected via 2 QDR Switches (we mostly run our Clusterfilesystem, BeeGFS based, via the Infiniband fabric).

We want to replace the switches by HDR switches, and also replace our fileservers by new servers with HDR.

If I purchase UFM for managing the new switches and for monitoring the traffic on the fabric, do I need to purchase a license for every single node within our cluster? Also for the old compute nodes?

What happens with UFM if I have less licenses than nodes inside the fabtric? Does it stop working?

Thanks,

Markus

Hello Markus,

Based on the information provide, please submit you inquiry to sales@mellanox.com

To be clear, UFM does not stop working if you have less licenses than nodes. It will only not monitor all the nodes in the fabric.

Thank you,
