Failed to initialize NVML: Not Found

I’ve received a new 4060ti 16g and I’ve successful installed the driver. It’s alright in the device manager.

But I can’t find it in the task manager. And in gpu-z there’s a lot of unknowns.

I try to run the nvidia-smi.exe which is found in “C:\Windows\System32”, but it reports “Failed to initialize NVML: Not Found”, and I can’t find the “C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NVSMI” folder.

There is a “nvml.dll” under “C:\Windows\System32”, and I copy it to the NVSMI folder and add it to the path, but the exe still can’t run.

What should I do?

Hello @1251486416, welcome to the NVIDIA developer forums.

First, check that the GPU is sitting correctly in a PCIe x16 slot, since apparently it is not according to GPU-Z.
Make sure the power connector is correctly attached.
Then do a clean reinstall of the driver. Possibly using DDU first. Somehow your installation at this stage seems corrupted if nvidia-smi does not work.

Lastly, check out the GeForce forums since those cover end user issues more thoroughly than the developer forums here.

Thanks.
