I have a 8gb orin nano. my tx2 nx has never successfully flashed using the sdkmanager, only from the command line. I assume it is due to the a203v2 carrier board. like the tx2 nx the orin nano 8gb is detected by the sdkmanager and fails to flash. What is the command that somebody would use to flash the orin nano 8gb? have flashed it twice using the jetson-orin-nano-devkit or jetson-orin-nano-devkit-nvme. I have a 128gb nvme ssd which is pcie as well. it seemed to succeed with nvme but hang the other way. Is there a way I can install on a flashdrive to see if the nvme is the issue. Also not sure if I need a specific dtb to use the a203v2 with the orin nano 8gb module
I used this command got it to go to this point:
sudo ./tools/kernel_flash/l4t_initrd_flash.sh --external-device nvme0n1p1 -c tools/kernel_flash/flash_l4t_external.xml -p "-c bootloader/t186ref/cfg/flash_t234_qspi.xml --no-systemimg" --network usb0 jetson-orin-nano-devkit-nvme external

Is there a way to flash a ssd through a usb a enclosure? here is the error I get from the sdkmanager.
SDKM_logs_JetPack_5.1.1_Linux_for_Jetson_Orin_Nano_modules_2023-04-04_21-02-20.zip (292.7 KB)
this is attempting to flash through the a203v2 using the sdkmanager and selecting nvme for the rootfs
None devkit is not able to use SDK manager, suggest to contact with the vendor to know how to flash with the A203v2 carrier board.
Is there a way prepare a ssd in a usb enclosure? I assume I should be able to boot the module with usb or sd card.
Hi AlexW,
So, which external device you want to boot from? (NVMe, USB, SD)
To flash into USB storage, please use sda1
instead of nvme0n1p1
in above flash command.
so from my host pc that has ubuntu 18.04 and the sdkmanager am I able to mount my ssd that is in an enclosure. it would show up as sdx at that point. And this would be without the device connected at all. I am not sure if there is anything on the orin nano 8gb that would need to be done for the bootloader. I also realized that seeedstudio just released the a603 meant for the orin. This board looks to be the same as the a203 minus the sdcard reader. I am going to find my usb serial cable to see if I can at least see what is happening on boot and during the flash process until I can get the a603. It doesnt look like the dev kit carrier board is sold separately.
NVMe SSD should be connected on the carrier board…
Do you get the custom BSP package of Jetpack 5.1.1 from seeedstudio?
Please let me know the exactly requirement of you.
I haven’t been able to order the a603 due to issues with the it site. What’s interesting is that with the a203 I am able to detect the Orin nano etc. not sure what differences there are in the boards other than the lack of microscopic card port. I still need to get bsp from them unless I can use Xavier nx bsp with Orin nano
Hi AlexW,
Yes, if you are using the custom carrier board, please get the custom BSP package from your vendor first.
Hi AlexW,
I don’t know if you already solved the problem but i came across the same issue when placing an Orin NX in Xavier Dev kit board. the flashing would time out checking for a successfull boot.
I noticed via a different forum post that if you place a ttl/usb cable on the Orin’s debug console it doesn’t time out and correctly identifies the Orin NX module.
Perhaps of some convenience for someone experiencing the same issue.
I had actually tried flashing and watched through a prolific usb to serial ftdi cable. I noticed it hanging there as well. I now have the a603 and was able to successfully flash the board.
