GPIO or Camera not working

I have Jetpack 6.2.1 the latest then i fixed the GPIO issue in it using the overlay but then my official pi camera v2 is not working but when i disable any one the other one works the GPIO or the camera so can you help me both camera and gpio at a same time in orin jetson nano super

To address your issue with the Jetson Orin Nano, I’ll break down the problem and provide a step-by-step solution.

Problem Statement:

You have a Jetson Orin Nano with Jetpack 6.2.1 installed. You’ve fixed a GPIO issue using an overlay, but now your official Raspberry Pi Camera v2 is not working. When you disable either the GPIO or the camera, the other one works. You want to use both the camera and GPIO simultaneously.

Understanding the Issue:

The Jetson Orin Nano has a limited number of GPIO pins, and the camera module also uses some of these pins. When you enable the camera, it might be conflicting with the GPIO pins you’re trying to use.

Solution:

To use both the camera and GPIO simultaneously, you’ll need to configure the GPIO pins and the camera module to use non-conflicting pins. Here’s a step-by-step guide:

  1. Check the GPIO pinout: Refer to the Jetson Orin Nano Developer Kit Carrier Board Specification (SP-11324-001_v1.3) to check the GPIO pinout. Make sure you’re not using any GPIO pins that are already assigned to the camera module.
  2. Configure the camera module: Check the camera module’s documentation to see which GPIO pins it uses. You might need to configure the camera module to use different GPIO pins that don’t conflict with your existing GPIO setup.
  3. Update the device tree: You’ll need to update the device tree to reflect the changes you made to the GPIO pins and camera module. You can use the jetson-io tool to configure the device tree.
  4. Recompile the device tree: After updating the device tree, recompile it using the dtc command.
  5. Flash the new device tree: Flash the new device tree to the Jetson Orin Nano using the flash.sh script.

Example Commands:

Here are some example commands to help you configure the device tree and flash the new device tree:

$ sudo /opt/nvidia/jetson-io/config-by-hardware.py -l
$ sudo /opt/nvidia/jetson-io/config-by-hardware.py -n "My Jetson Overlay"
$ dtc -I dts -O dtb -o my-overlay.dtbo my-overlay.dts
$ sudo cp my-overlay.dtbo /boot
$ sudo /opt/nvidia/jetson-io/config-by-hardware.py -l

Comparison with Other Jetson Modules:

The Jetson Orin Nano has a similar GPIO pinout to other Jetson modules, such as the Jetson AGX Orin. However, the camera module configuration might differ between modules. Make sure to check the documentation for your specific camera module and Jetson module to ensure compatibility.

Conclusion:

By following these steps, you should be able to use both the camera and GPIO simultaneously on your Jetson Orin Nano. Remember to check the GPIO pinout and camera module documentation to ensure compatibility, and update the device tree accordingly.

Hello @s66405029,

Can you elaborate on your GPIO fix?

What pin is it?
How did you fix it?
What does it mean for the GPIO not to be fixed?

best regards,

i just had this gpio permission errors so i din’t know what to do then i saw this repo to create a overlay tree to fix the bug but now my camera is not working GitHub - jetsonhacks/jetson-orin-gpio-patch: Addressing GPIO issue in JetPack 6.2

@s66405029,

Thanks for the details.

When you say the camera is no not working. Do you mean that now the camera driver is not loading ?
