Importance of ECC memory

Does anyone in the forum have any experience of WS certified cards vs. cheaper gamer cards? I am finding that with C1060, my code gives exactly the same result again and again, whereas with GTX480 cards, I am getting run to run variation in the 8th significant digit. Is this likely to be because the GTX480 doesn’t have built in error correction, or might it be some other problem with our cuda libraries/drivers etc. ?

Hi Rob,

It’s my understanding that ECC memory wasn’t added until ‘Fermi’ and neither the C1060 nor GTX480 support ECC. So ECC isn’t the problem.

Though, I don’t know what the problem could be,

OK. I think the best thing to do first is to update all our software as we are a bit out of date. I’ll let you know how I get on.
