MQM8790 Is there any other way to check for power failures? Currently, the UFM version is low, there are high false positives.

Unfortunately, the only supported method is through UFM.
There is a community driven project which can pull some info of the switch, but this would be on your own risk → GitHub - stanford-rc/ibswinfo: Command-line tool to retrieve information and monitor Mellanox un-managed Infiniband switches
