I am getting compositor lags that can last from less than a second to more than 5 seconds at a time. The log messages that might be of note in particular are these types of messages:

Sep 22 16:39:58 fedora kernel: NVRM: os_schedule: Attempted to yield the CPU while in atomic or interrupt context
Sep 22 16:39:59 fedora kwin_wayland[72188]: kwin_wayland_drm: atomic commit failed: Invalid argument

This time, I was able to kick start the issue by opening up some Electron applications, but I’m not sure if that’s a reliable trigger or not. This has affected two of my devices:

A laptop with an AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS w/ Radeon 760M Graphics and an nvidia RTX 4060 laptop GPU

A desktop with an intel i7 13700k with an nvidia RTX 4080 desktop gpu

One of the Kwin (KDE’s compositor) maintainers says that those messages are pretty severe and should be reported. I hope I can help get to the bottom of what’s going on.

Those log messages don’t always show up when the issue occurs, so it could be a separate issue.
