I installed fedora 42 in an old PC but had issues with the nouveau drivers (random crashes) so I decided to try the nvidia driver instead. I have followed this guide for that and used the comands in the “Legacy geforce 600/700” section:
dnf update -y
sudo dnf install xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-470xx akmod-nvidia-470xx
sudo dnf install xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-470xx-cuda #optional for cuda up to 11.4 support
I waited 5 minutes before restarting so the kmod could be built. After that, I restarted the computer and the first problems started. The resolution was wrong (it was ‘somethin’x768 for a ‘1920x1080’ monitor) and my second monitor was not working. After some troubleshooting with the internet, I found out that it was a secure boot thing so I disabled and restarted. Everything looked good, the resolution was correct (at least at plain sight) and both monitor were working. The problem is that there is a lot of lag. If the mouse moves it takes 5 seconds to the movement to be represented in the screen and everything is extremely slow. I really did not find anything useful on the internet so decided to post something here following this nvidea post rules and attaching the nvidia-bug-report.sh output in this post. Thx in advance for at least reading this.
