So f*ckung slow

Having several Linux systems, 4k screen on laptop, external 4k screen using hdmi.
All of them using NVIDIA (lenovo laptops).
But ALL so SLOW, with older drivers, with newer drivers… with KDE.
Tried gnome yesterday, but exactly the same problem. The screen is is laggy.
it’s really frustrating.
forums say that it’s nivida problem…tried wayland, but that’s even worse as then external screen doesn’t even work.

Please run nvidia-bug-report.sh as root and attach the resulting nvidia-bug-report.log.gz file to your post. You will have to rename the file ending to something else since the forum software doesn’t accept .gz files (nifty!).

The external monitor is only running at 30Hz refresh rate, it supports 4k@60Hz only over displayport. Please check if this triggers the slowness by switching it to a lower res @60Hz.
Furthermore, at the time the log was taken, the gpu was running at fullthrottle with 32% gpu utilization but I didn’t see anything running on the gpu that could explain this. Please install and use nvtop to check what’s taxing the gpu.
In general, the best desktop experience with nvidia is indeed on gnome >=3.34.

Gnome is exactly the same, see “Tried gnome yesterday, but exactly the same problem. The screen is is laggy.”
