Issue Running detectnet.py with CSI Camera on Jetson AGX Orin

Hello Team,

I am currently working with the NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin Industrial SOM on a custom board and encountering an issue when running detectnet.py with a CSI camera. I have followed the installation steps from the official Jetson Inference repository.

JetPack Version: JetPack 5.1.2 (L4T R35.5.0)

$ cat /etc/nv_tegra_release
# R35 (release), REVISION: 5.0, GCID: 35550185, BOARD: t186ref, EABI: aarch64, DATE: Tue Feb 20 04:46:31 UTC 2024

Issue:
When I try to run detectnet.py with the camera:

$ python3 detectnet.py --camera=/dev/video0

I see the following logs:

Could you please help us understand the possible causes of this issue? Additionally, we would appreciate any steps or recommendations to resolve it.

Looking forward to your guidance.

Hi,

For the camera basic functionality first needs to check the device and driver configuration.
You can reference to below program guide for the detailed information of device tree and driver implementation.

Please refer to Applications Using V4L2 IOCTL Directly by using V4L2 IOCTL to verify basic camera functionality.

Once confirm the configure and still failed below link help to get log and some information and some tips for debug.

Thanks!

Thanks for your response.

I have reviewed the wiki and verified that the cameras are working correctly using both Cheese and gst-launch. The following command executes successfully.

orinsys1@tegra-ubuntu:~$ gst-launch-1.0 v4l2src device=/dev/video0 ! video/x-raw,width=1920,height=1080,format=UYVY ! videoconvert ! autovideosink

Hi

The commands between detectnet.py and gst-launch-1.0 are different.

gst-launch-1.0
orinsys1@tegra-ubuntu:~$ gst-launch-1.0 v4l2src device=/dev/video0 ! video/x-raw,width=1920,height=1080,format=UYVY ! videoconvert ! autovideosink
jetson-inference

Could you try to open the camera with Argus and check if it can work correctly?

Thanks.

I tried running the suggested command:

gst-launch-1.0 nvarguscamerasrc sensor-id=0 ! 'video/x-raw(memory:NVMM),width=1280,height=720,framerate=30/1,format=NV12' ! nvvidconv ! videoconvert ! autovideosink

However, the pipeline tries to open but immediately closes.

orinsys1@tegra-ubuntu:~$ gst-launch-1.0 nvarguscamerasrc sensor-id=0 ! 'video/x-raw(memory:NVMM),width=1280,height=720,framerate=30/1,format=NV12' ! nvvidconv ! videoconvert ! autovideosink

Hi,

You are using a YUV camera so nvarguscamearsrc doesn’t support it.
Please change the command to v4l2src.

$ python3 detectnet.py /dev/video0

Thanks.

Thanks for your response.

I’m running six cameras with different applications on Jetson AGX Orin. The applications work fine initially, but when launching the third one, the system hangs and crashes, eventually rebooting after some time. The system is in MAXN mode.

Here are the applications I am running

detectnet /dev/video1 --input-width=640 --input-height=480 --framerate=15 --precision=int8
posenet /dev/video1 --input-width=640 --input-height=480 --framerate=15 --precision=int8
actionnet /dev/video2 --input-width=640 --input-height=480 --framerate=15 --precision=int8
segnet /dev/video3 --input-width=640 --input-height=480 --framerate=15 --precision=int8
depthnet /dev/video4 --input-width=640 --input-height=480 --framerate=15 --precision=int8
backgroundnet /dev/video5 --input-width=640 --input-height=480 --framerate=15 --precision=int8

After running for some time, I see the following dmesg errors before the system crashes and reboots.
