Jetson Nano Fan Issue

I can start the fan using the

sudo sh -c 'echo 255 > /sys/devices/pwm-fan/target_pwm'

command, however the fan kind of just stutters and then in order to get the fan spinning I have to give it a little push with my finger. Does anyone else have this issue?

I am using the micro usb power supply that Nvidia recommends and the Noctua 40x40x20mm fan they recommend as well.

Hi, did you try other fan? What’s the operating voltage? The power supply to fan connector is 5V on Jetson board.

Hi, Michael,

I tested your command to my Nano Developer kit and Fan(from somewhere in China ^^).

And confirmed RUN and STOP pretty well.
As Trumany advised, you’d better check if the fan is 5V 4pin.

My fan is indeed 5V 4pin, and is the EXACT model that Nvidia recommends here https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/1049521/jetson-nano/jetson-nano-fan/post/5327903/#5327903

I don’t really want to go out and buy another fan, I just wanted to see if anyone else was having this issue, or knew of a fix.

It might be the fan problem, can you just crosscheck with another fan?
