NVIDIA strives to bring the latest and greatest from NVIDIA to the edge with regular updates to our Jetson software stack. In this announcement, we provide details about our current software roadmap for 2023. Note, this plan is subject to change.
JetPack 5.1 targeted for January 2023 will be our next production release, bringing support for Jetson Orin NX 16GB and will include support for Image based OTA with A/B, UEFI secure boot, Secure storage using RPMB and an updated compute stack.
JetPack 5.1.1 targeted for March 2023 will be a minor update with added support for Jetson AGX Orin 64GB, Jetson Orin NX 8GB, Jetson Orin Nano 8GB and Jetson Orin Nano 4GB modules.
JetPack 5.2 targeted for May 2023 will be our last feature release based on JetPack 5 and will be the last major release for Jetson AGX Xavier series and Jetson Xavier NX series. After JetPack 5.2, the JetPack 5 codeline will transition into sustaining mode with continued software support via JetPack 5.2.x regular minor releases for security updates and critical bug fixes. We recommend Jetson based products going to production with JetPack 5 to transition to JetPack 5.2 based releases in order to receive continued support.
We are announcing JetPack 6 which is targeted for Q3 2023 and will become our new feature codeline supporting Jetson Orin based modules. It will include Kernel 5.15 and Ubuntu 22.04 based root file system. Outlined in last year’s roadmap announcement, NVIDIA will finish upstreaming Jetson support to the Linux Kernel by JetPack 6 and pave the way for greater choice of Linux based distributions on Jetson.
As mentioned in our previous roadmap announcement, Jetson Nano, Jetson TX2 and Jetson TX1 series will be supported by JetPack 4.6.x releases.
