Majority of 3D applications crashing with Xid error 109 and Xid 8, Xid 31 errors on older kernels(and drivers)

nvidia-bug-report.log.gz (830.7 KB)

This has been happening to me for a couple of months now(journalctl suggests since at least Apr 07) where I would start a 3D application and it would work for a while but then it would randomly crash.
I’ve tried:
a) downgrading the kernel from 6.8 to 5.15(and also downgrading the driver to 515, as that was the last working version) - didn’t work but it produced an Xid 8 error this time
b) changing distros - I’ve tried a clean reinstall of Pop!_OS, ubuntu, ubuntu 18.04, arch - didn’t work
c) downgrading driver to 535 - didn’t work
d) Using a different computer with a GeForce GTX 1050 Mobile GPU, Intel CoffeeLake-H GT2 iGPU, kernel version 6.5.4-76060504-generic kernel, driver v. 535.113.01, CUDA 12.2, Xorg 1.21.1.4 - worked, nothing crashed - the only problem is that it sounds like a fighter jet squadron is taking off in the room and is weaker.

Apps broken:
SkyrimSE, godot v3 and v4.2, KSP(only with some graphical mods, I think), Astronner(seems to have been fixed?), Factorio(only when viewing the map), Bannerlord, Minecraft(only with clockwork and valkyrien skies installed),

Driver - 550.67
Cuda - 12.4
Kernel - 6.8.0-76060800daily20240311-generic
X11 - 1.21.1.4
GPU - GeForce RTX 2060 Rev. A
iGPU - none
