Mellanox 40 GbE and Dell Powerconnect 8164

Hey guys,

are you aware of any problems with ConnectX3 (using the latest drivers) and Dell Powerconnect 8164 (firmware 5.1.4.5) switches when using Mellanox QSFP passive copper cables (part number MC2210126-005)?

We’re getting a link up event for a few seconds and then the link goes down and stays down when using these cables.

With different cables from Dell, the link stays up. The mellanox cable itself works when connecting the NIC to another mellanox NIC.

Dell blames the cables for not being tested with their switch and is unable to provide any further help.

Does anybody use the same configuration or knows similar problems?

Hi!

Dell Power Connect 8024F also support Dell SFP+ cable only…:(

but some cable works properly.

Your problem is same my situation.

Another case is same my Brocade 8000 FCoE switch.

It’s also support Brocade product only.

Did you already try to upgrade your Switch firmware to 6.x and check if “service unsupported-transceiver” works for you on SFP and QSFP?
