Mouse freezes - GeForce RTX 3060 with either Ubuntu 22.04 or Mint 21

Brand new laptop with GeForce RTX 3060.

The exact same problem happens in both Ubuntu 22.04 (fresh installation) and Mint 21 (trial).

Mouse periodically freezes. It will unfreeze if I immediately press the Super key (to refresh display) or If I wait for some seconds. But then, again, it will soon freeze.

When mouse unfreezes, it seems to have the correct position (it moved while it was shown frozen). Therefore, I suppose it is a rendering/display error, it does not have to do with the mouse. In addition, I have tried both the touchpad and an external mouse.

In Ubuntu 20.04 I have tried the following drivers:

  • X.Org X Server
  • NVIDIA driver 515
  • NVIDIA driver 515 server
  • NVIDIA driver 510 server
  • NVIDIA driver 470 server

I have also tried disabling Wayland.

Any ideas?

It’s a hybrid graphics notebook, primary gpu is the amd gpu, the nvidia gpu is actually sleeping. So the issue is with the amd gpu. Please upgrade your kernel to latest using the liquorix ppa to update the amdgpu driver.

Thank you very much, it worked!
