"No such device" after huge upgrade of Linux kernel

I’m using a deprecated openSUSE 12.1 with NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT. Linux 3.1 + NVIDIA 340.98 are working fine.

Today I’ve upgrade my kernel from 3.1 to 4.9 (plus MuQSS patch). A driver 340.98 doesn’t compile anymore, so I’ve download 304.101.

It successfully installs but doesn’t work. There are my logs (“lspci -v”, “modprobe nvidia”, “dmesg”)

Many of us had the same issue: The Driver compiled but failed to load. Please see this recent forum post for a solution to your issue. It includes a working patch for Nvidia Driver 340.101 using Linux Kernel 4.9 along with easy to follow instructions.

Let me know how it works out for you.

I have successfully install NVIDIA 340.98 driver using this patch.
