Nvidia-settings in the terminal yields: ERROR: Unable to load info from any available system

I am on a fresh install of pop os, I choose the open source drivers since I have a dell inspiron 15 7000 gaming with intel integrated graphics and a 1050mobile GPU. After the fresh installation on the open source drivers I then used this command to get the nvidia drivers, as per recommended on the pop os website:

sudo apt-get install system76-driver-nvidia

I used this command to switch to nvidia graphics mode:

sudo system76-power graphics nvidia

after that it told me to reboot the pc.

Now when open the nvidia settings with the terminal this is what I am seeing a blank window:

I enter:
nvidia-settings

ERROR: Unable to load info from any available system

Here is my bug report:

This has me stumped, thanks in advance to anyone who figures this out.
Also I am a brand new linux user so I really don’t know all the terminology yet.

looks like the gpu is broken, please double-check by using Windows.
