Thanks in advance

The kernel driver is missing. How did you initially install the driver? Please check if you booted the correct (latest) kernel in grub menu. Please also post the output of
dkms status

Thanks for the reply. But I want to know, how can I check, update and install the kernel driver in my machine.

check for kernel driver:
dkms status

After the dkms status command. It directly comes to the next line without giving any output.

After using the virtual box, dkms status showed
virtual box, 6.1.26, 5.11.00-44-generic, x86_64 : installed

then again nvidia-smi command was given
Error message: NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn’t communicate with the NVIDIA driver.

Please post the output of
dpkg -l |grep nvidia
