On Fedora 41 NVIDIA 575.51.03 Open Driver installed from cuda repo causes the system not to boot when external monitor is connected

I installed the new NVIDIA 575.51.03 Open Driver from NVIDIA’s cuda fedora 41 repo

  • on kernel 6.14.4-200.fc41.x86_64
  • connected to an external monitor via HDMI
  • on Fedora 41

Sometimes when I shut down/reboot or just boot the system, my laptop ASUS TUF A15 (2022) becomes completely unresponsive and does not even start booting. The moment I remove the external HDMI cable, the computer starts to boot.

A side effect is that the RGB keyboard does not light up, which is similar to what it does when entering sleep mode. In fact, sleep mode does not work on my laptop these days, if I put it to sleep it immediately wakes up.
