Resume from suspend does not work properly on Ubuntu 24.04

There are no driver errors and the system resumes with a plain black screen except for the top Ubuntu banner. All icons, launcher and activities are missing. If I logout and then login, the desktop has all the missing items. Hardware Model: ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING_WIFI_ ; Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600x12 ; Memory: 16.0 GiB ; Kernel 6.8.0-45-generic ; Windowing: Wayland ; Gnome Version: 46 ; Graphics card: NVIDIA Corporation GM204 [GeForce GTX 970] ;

Forgot to mention there are no relevant Errors in journalctl.

I had difficulties in the past with suspend-resume and Nvidia drivers, all eventually solved, but this problem is particularly stubborn. Any ideas are appreciated.

Correction: it’s not Nvidia. Swapped out the GPU for an onboard AMD and have the same problem. Looks like an issue with Ubuntu.

RE: NVIDIA Resume on Ubuntu 24.04
I am having a similar problem with a GTX 960.
After suspend, the display is not being found on Resume.
