Ubuntu 18.04 Severe Graphical Glitches with latest nvidia driver (418) and Titan Xp

Hello!

For the past few days I have been trying to set up my PC with the latest nvidia drivers in preparation to set up Cuda for tensorflow. Unfortunately I haven’t gotten past the driver confuguration step. nvidia-smi just will not run (cannot access driver). I have attached the output of the nvidia bug report script tool. Would appreciate any help you all can provide!

OS: Ubuntu 18.04
Driver version: nvidia-driver-418
GPU: Titan Xp

I see that this issue is recent, and would like to note that my Ubuntu 18 has also gone haywire with Nvidia graphics card after an update (Nvidia 730).

Though I believe it’s Ubuntu developer’s issue? Does Nvidia actually develop drivers for Linux distros?
