Unable to insert driver 304.135 into kernel 4.9

I tried to use legacy driver with older kernel 4.9 - and the final module cannot be inserted. And no, there isn’t any rivafb, nvidiafb, nor nouveau drivers present.

What do I do? Any patches available? Below nvidia-installer log’s contents:

https://github.com/manjaro/packages-extra/tree/master/linux411-extramodules/nvidia-304xx

There you’ll find the needed patches.

These patches are of no use.

I wonder why every attempt to install Linux NVidia driver has to be (still worse and worse) PITA. Such large company like NVidia can’t afford to hire really professional programmers, or what?

You wonder that you use ancient old hardware and now you can’t use hyper modern software?
Really? I do not see any PITA in linux and nvidia drivers.

owo:Defiant> inxi -SG
System: Host: Defiant Kernel: 4.12.0-rc4-siduction-amd64 x86_64 (64 bit) Desktop: Cinnamon 3.2.7
           Distro: siduction 13.2.0 December - xfce - (201312310323)
Graphics: Card: NVIDIA GP107 [GeForce GTX 1050 Ti]
Display Server: X.Org 1.19.3 driver: nvidia Resolution: 1920x1080@60.00hz
GLX Renderer: GeForce GTX 1050 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 GLX Version: 4.5.0 NVIDIA 381.22

Zero problem if you use recent hardware.

For 304.135 on kernel 4.9, I think only drm-driver-legacy.patch is needed, from Arch.

Edit: Maybe also disable-mtrr.patch

“You wonder that you use ancient old hardware and now you can’t use hyper modern software?”

Is it your “explanation”? “The driver cannot be built properly, because it’s hyper-modern”? A very specific definitione of modernity: “useless = hiper-modern”.

“I do not see any PITA in linux and nvidia drivers”

I don’t see any PITA in Linux either - well I do see this in these hopeless drivers, circa since about 2 years. They look like worst sort of software ever made, each time during compilation attempt it fails, then hours/evenings of searching WWW for any help, trying new and new collection “patches”… hopeless work indeed. No idea what wannabe-programmer is developing these drivers. Third year and the man is still unable to clear the sources.

Buy an ATI Card or a recent Nvidia Card.
And since you are the greatest programmer, because you call the nvidia devs “wannabe-programmer”, fix the sources by yourself. I have pointed you to the needed patches.

“Buy an ATI Card or a recent Nvidia Card”

Yeah, sure: “spend more money”. Nothing like planned obsolescence - this is it!

“And since you are the greatest programmer”

I don’t have to be “greatest cook” to value taste of meal. To tell whether it’s tasty or it’s awful.

For those who may be in similar trouble:

From now on “greatest modern” (patched) NVidia Linux driver 304.135 requires “AGP aperture size” of 128 MB. It doesn’t like former value of 256 MB. Why? Maybe NVIDIA’s greatest programmers are able to answer this (warning: “able” doesn’t mean “willing” - oh, no).

Of course not a word about this in any READMEs, neither in “install log”… nowhere. If I weren’t greatest programmer, I simply hadn’t any chance to find it out.
