I am going to upgrade to a 1440p 144Hz monitor soon so I figured I should upgrade my graphics card too, before that. Another reason for this upgrade is that I plan on getting into VR games.
Current system (from around 2014 - 2015):https://19216811.cam/https://xender.vip/https://testmyspeed.onl/
Z77 Asus sabertooth Intel Core i5 3570K running at 3.4 8GB DDR3 memory (can’t remember the frequency, around 1600 maybe) GTX 660 TI Power supply is probably around 700 WATT.
My main question is: can I just swap out my 660TI with a 2070 super? Is there any part that will (severely) bottleneck its performance and make it not worth its money? I think the CPU could be a deal-breaker. Also regarding to the VR aspect of it, not just the monitor and the pc games. Because I will get the VR set first, then upgrade my monitor.
Also, what would be the best 2070 super model? I’m hearing mixed opinions between the Windforce and Gaming versions from gigabyte. Another option would be the AORUS. What’s the best bang for the buck?
If you go with a 2070 Super, consider these: MSI X Trio or EVGA FTW3 Ultra. As for noise levels and cooling capabilities, they both have great coolers. You might also want to upgrade CPU/Ram/mobo, because the 4c/4t can slow down (drastically) the GPU slot in some of the physics VR games.
Just wait until new Ryzen cpus come out and super rtx cards are announced. Rtx cards will drop in price and better future proof cpus will be available. I regret buying my Ryzen 7 2700x since I would have easily went for the 3700.
