This occurs on SDL and Wayland backends. DRM backend also has the same issue but that backend’s been a pain point for a while, so I haven’t tested it much due to gamescope-session image corruptions when running above 1440p. In my experience, –expose-wayland is needed to get certain apps to launch even without scaling filters. Launching certain apps like vkcube without –expose-wayland results in:

Interestingly enough, this could be a Vulkan issue. Although running glxgears with the above settings results in a black screen, enabling scaling after gamescope has launched seems to result in a perfectly fine result. It also seems to not need the –expose-wayland variable:
