AFAIK, there’s no such thing. You will have to check dmesg and xorg logs.

There is definitely a tool called Nvidia Field Diagnostic. It’s referenced in several places and is part of the RMA process. RMA Process :: GPU Deployment and Management Documentation

Just stumbled on this post again. For the record, field diag does exist but is not generally available, you may have to contact your Nvidia support/sales rep directly. The filename of the one I got was nvidia-629-INT14-UNIV-ALL.tgz.
