Will Nvidia's gimping of crypto hash rate impact deep learning?

In light of Nvidia’s announcement that they will try to alleviate the shortage of graphics cards for people who aren’t mining cryptocurrency by gimping the “hash rate” with software drivers (GeForce Is Made for Gaming, CMP Is Made to Mine | The Official NVIDIA Blog), will this impact CuDNN and Cuda performance in general on these cards? The focus of the blog is on gamers but those of us in the AI community kind of need to know how/whether this affects us. Will we be stuck continuing to compete with crypto miners or will the cards with gimped hash rates be usable for us as well as gamers?

Hi @dustin.morley,
We are checking with Engg team for the answer, will update you as soon as I get any update.

Thanks

Hi @dustin.morley,

Hash rate limitation on RTX3060 has no impact on deep learning or CUDA performance.
New CMP product line is targeted for cryptocurrency mining.

Thanks

Thank you so much! Great to know that Nvidia managed to specifically target cryptocurrency algorithms without any side effects for deep learning.

@SunilJB so here we are a few weeks later, all the cards are still out of stock and there is news breaking that crypto researchers found a way around the hash rate limitation. This is starting to become a big problem for the company I work at - we are trying to launch a new medical device where each device needs an NVIDIA card for deep learning inference, and we literally can’t get a single card. Is there anything NVIDIA can do to help us purchase a few cards? Any kind of waiting list or reservation program at all? This is getting ridiculous. We anticipated a lot of technical problems and challenges with the complex device we are building but this was definitely not one of them! Would really appreciate any assistance or advice.

hello,i want know is the situation (The Limit Algorithm will not affect the deeplearning Calculation) also applies to 70ti?
