10% CPU utilization at idle

I have AMD+Nvidia laptop with Windows 11 24H2. Driver version is 566.36. I have noticied that the System process utilizes CPU at idle. After disabling Nvidia GPU at device manager the System process utilizes CPU as normal. In processhacker functions where CPU is mainly utilized is ntoskrnl.exe!KeReleaseSemaphore and dxgmms2.sys!VidMmInterface

Same problem, i’m using Acer Nitro 5 AN-515-54 with i5 9300H and GTX 1650. After installing the new nvidia driver update (572.42) the “system” process under ntoskrnl.exe is using more than 10/15% of CPU utilization, when unplugging the laptop gets even worse since battery life is cut in half. Please Nvidia, fix this horrendous problem.

Same problem.
I have notebook asus UX331F with Nvidia MX150 card.
On drivers 565.90 and higher, the system process (“dxgmms2.sys”) loads the CPU by 9-12%.
The latest drivers 572.16 do not solve this problem, CPU is also loaded.
Rolling back to drivers 561.09 solves this problem and the system process loads the CPU by no more than 0.5-0.7%.

ĐžS Windows 11 24H2 with several updates to date.

It is actually using %100 of the CPU. In your case it is using only one core. This might be really big problem where CPU and GPU might be getting used for mining or AI processing.
Affected application ntokrnl.exe
Rolling back didnt solve my problem.
Only way to solve CPU usage is to disable the whole NVIDIA GPU.

The functions you mentioned—ntoskrnl.exe!KeReleaseSemaphore and dxgmms2.sys!VidMmInterface—are part of the Windows kernel and DirectX graphics memory management. High CPU usage in these functions often indicates that the driver is frequently releasing semaphores or handling graphics memory in a way that uses more CPU cycles than expected.

is the issue fixed now? can i upgrade the drivers?

Not yet fixed…
Also seems it is caused by the task manager. If you close the task manager, System process CPU usage will back to normal.
