Add 25 and 50 FPS to the playback rate?

Hi @WendyGram !

Could you please ask the dev team to add the 25 and 50 FPS option to the playback rate ?

I don’t really think that it will be difficult for them, as other rate already exist !

They could even add a “Customize” possibility !

Quite a lot of productions (mine included of course) are animated and rendered in 25 or 50 FPS, so it would be awesome if the playback could match these settings !

It is still possible to render the scene in 25 or 50 FPS by setting it in the Movie Capture settings (and it works), but it would be even better if we could preview the scene in the viewport at the matching FPS !

Thanks again for your invaluable help !

Hi @billyjohn1. I’ll forward this request to the development team.

In the meantime, you may be able to work around it by editing the stage metadata.

  1. Save your stage as a USDA file. File → “Save As…”
  2. Open the USDA file in a text editor.
  3. Near the top of the file, change the value of timeCodesPerSecond.

  4. Save the file.
  5. Open the USDA in Omniverse again.
  6. Note the FPS now:

  7. You’ll need to do the manual edit again if you want to switch to 50fps.

The team logged an enhancement ticket for this: OM-51032. They did give me an easier way to change the FPS and said it should be a safe workaround.

  1. Select the RootLayer on the Layer tab.
  2. You can then edit “Time Codes Per Second” on the Property widget.

This will effectively do the same as I described above.
