Add Pins / Markers to the assets in the model

Experts,

 I have a need to add pins / markers for some of the assets in the plant model that is loaded in the OV viewport / stage as shown in the attached image. Is it possible to do it through a custom extension (python code) in OV Create app? Secondly, upon clicking the pin, I want to be able to retrieve some metadata details like the asset status from an external source / application and display it next to the asset (in the attached image, I show the asset status as "Fault Detected").
