Bigscreen Beyond HMD unable to be initialized on Nvidia possibly due to DSC BPP issue

Months, I would hope.

Itā€™s been a little bit so I figure Iā€™ll bump this, Iā€™m curious if thereā€™s any news to share. Otherwise just count this as me helping to raise awareness, as this fix would help me massively.

This would enable me to finally ditch Windows if it was fixed!

To help expedite a solution examining the AMD patch it looks like thereā€™s some kind of vendor VESA spec that handles setting specific vendor DSC bits.

As per DisplayID v2.0 Errata E9 spec ā€œDSC pass-through timing supportā€
VESA vendor-specific data block may contain target DSC bits per pixel
fields

It then sets these target DSC params on the display, the code references 6.4 fixed point format in that u16 there. If the issue is the same, it should be possible to enable this without a lot of struggle, assuming one can navigate the Nvidia kernel drv, cheers. Hoping we can make the next version, these are really lovely HMDs.

Howdy. I appreciate the work on this but Iā€™m having the same issue with BSB HMD and RTX 3080ti. I generally have good performance using bazzite but the screens in the headset simply stay black no matter what I do. The tracking appears to work when I mirror the display to the desktop. The BSB representative told me they are in touch with NVidia. Iā€™m going to try to a kernel patch on an arch distro as some have suggested but Iā€™m not holding out hope for it to work.
