Can we upgrade Jetpack remotely?

Hello,
I have a Jetson TX2 with JetPack 3.2 (R28) and I would like to upgrade it to Jetpack 4.2 (R32). However, as I am working in remote work right now, I cannot access it. I would like to do this upgrade remotely. Is there a way to do it?

Once you have R32.3.1 or newer you can make many upgrades without anything other than the internet and apt. However, to get to R32.3.1 (the latest JetPack/SDK Manager can do this) you will need to actually have a Linux host PC directly connected.

In case anyone is interested in this, I’ve come up with a dangerous way to do a remote L4T upgrade in the field. “Dangerous” in this case means that if the device loses power or reboots midway through the update, it will likely need to be physically flashed (since it might not boot, or if it does, kernel modules/firmware required may not be present yet as the upgrade didn’t complete). It’s unsupported by Nvidia (with good reason), but we got it working for our use case. Proceed at your own ri…
