Centos 7, nvidia 740, and TigerVNC server not working together

I have a new install of Centos 7 on a Dell i7 XPS. The GT720 that came with the machine was replaced with a GT740. I blacklisted the nouveau driver and installed the NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-367.44 driver from the nvidia web site and allowed the install program to update my xorg.conf for me. The new card seems to be working correctly but I am unable to make a successful VNC session using the TigerVNC server. The VNC server log show the following error:
Xlib: extension “GLX” missing on display “:1”

The VNC client screen reports:
Oh no! Something has gone wrong…

This is a known issue and there is no work around for it: either you use NVIDIA drivers or the VNC extension.

Since you’re running GT720, you don’t really need NVIDIA drivers per se - go switch to nouveau - it works beautifully.
