We are happy to announce our collaboration with NVIDIA to offer accelerated chromium support for decoding by hardware for Jetson platforms. This will reduce the CPU utilization when playing videos in chromium allowing you to do 4k video playbacks.
This support was tested for Chromium v90.0.4400.4 on Jetpack 4.5 and the formats currently supported are: VP9, VP8, and H.264.
If you want to give this support a try you can go to this wiki page and follow the instructions. You will see how in a few steps you can get this support in place.
When you start building just be patient as the full build took ~13h in a machine with an Intel CORE i7 7th Gen CPU, with 12GB of RAM and a 100Mbps internet connection.
