CUDA Downclocks on a GTX580

I do Seti@Home and I’m having problems with CUDA Downclocks on a GTX580, I’ve tried quite few drivers, I thought 314.07 would not do so, but It went from 772MHz where I set My Zotac IE GTX580 to 405MHz, I do 3 work units at a time(which is what most users do with a GTX580 on S@H I’m told), I thought at one time this downclock issue for CUDA was fixed. The OS I use is Windows 7 Pro x64 sp1, Boinc 7.0.62 x64, BoincTasks 1.46 Lunatics Lunatics_x41zc_win32_cuda42.exe and on two cores of My i5 750 cpu AK_v8b2_win_x64_SSSE3x.exe, I have the gpu volts at 1.025v in MSI Afterburner 3.0B9, I’ve had this problem longer than I’ve had 3.09B. Is there a fix coming soon?

Some of the latest drivers have some sort of downclock issue… this was noticed by a lot of Titan owners a few months ago, and I don’t believe it’s been fixed yet. Your issue might or might not be the same… the downclocks could be related to card temperature. Lastly, check with other users of SETI@Home on their forums and see if they have any similiar issues.

MSI Afterburner noted the temps as about 71C, right now the temp while idling is 34C.

It turns out after uninstalling Afterburner, that the problem of downclocking went away, of course I can’t overclock without it, but why? It just makes more heat for a swamp cooler(evaporative) to remove.

Does your card downclock with something else other than SETI? e.g. other stress tests/high-end games/etc? It might be that the card itself has this issue with multiple high-stress scenarios, in which case I’d try to get it RMA’d as somewhat defective.
