CUDA on sony VAIO Driver Version

Hi I have a song VAIO laptop with nvidia 310M card.

however, when I try to compile the .cu program, the message shows the driver version is not the latest.

After download the latest developer driver for cuda on notebook, only the audio driver can be update.

Is there any way to get around it?

Thanks

Yep, I just got a new VAIO with a 330M…go to http://www.laptopvideo2go.com and download the latest WHQL driver from there.

Windows Update didn’t show anything recent for me, and I downloaded and installed the 259-series WHQL driver just a couple of days ago, without a hitch.

Hi, thanks for the information. I went to the site and download the latest driver. However, my laptop still shows a message saying the current driver(188) is latest and there is no options to install the 259 driver.

Thanks

Do you have a VAIO Z series? It uses a custom driver wrapper for the hybrid graphics, so you won’t be able to update using the downloads from the nVidia site. You might find one you can use in this thread:

Hi, thanks for the information. My VAIO is the latest S series. I customized through the website to have the NVIDIA card. The label on the laptop said NVIDIA with CUDA. However, since I got it, I have not been able to run a single CUDA program due the lower version of the driver.

Does that mean there is no way to run CUDA unless SONY can officially release a higher version of driver to support the latest ToolKits?

Thanks

That’s very strange. You should be able to install drivers normally from http://www.laptopvideo2go.com. Perhaps the guide in this link might help: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?s=&…st&p=998095

Sony probably won’t release a higher version, unfortunately.

I guess you can try installing an older version of the CUDA toolkit 2.3(?), or maybe try taking the Linux route.
