Is the CUDA SDK a necessity to get code running on an NVIDIA Machine or does the CUDA SDK only contain examples? I am having problems downloading the CUDA SDK due to memory/access issues and wantef to know if it was even worth going through the hassle of getting the sdk when you don’t really need it for anything other than sample examples.

You only need the toolkit and drivers to use CUDA. The SDK is just a set of example codes and a rather bad build system and isn’t required.
