First symptom: Firefox started to crash, when trying to see the Nvidia-Dashboard.
Analysis: There must have been an update of firefox by snap on 2dn/3rd of october causing this.
Tried solution: as the dashboard-update was not at reach I ran
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
and forced a reboot.
Now the system shows on boot the Nvidia-logo, (sometimes) lines of a boot sequence, sometimes a quick flash without beeing able to read
but at the end gets stuck with a blinking underline in the upper left corner.
No network or ssh-access at that time. Ctrl-Alt-Del causes reboot with same behaviour.
I asked claude opus 5.5 solution is: press ctrl-alt-F2 and you get an non graphical login:
I ran:
sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt --fix-broken install
sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade
packages where installed and the system was shut down:
After reboot everthing is fine on first sight.
