Does the SB7800 support PTP by default?

We have a switch setup, connecting PCs over IB, but the manual is not with it. Should PTP be supported by the SB7800 switch without any configuration changes? Thank you.

Hi Gina,

PTP protocol IEEE 1588-2002 uses only IP transports. As such this switch which only has Infiniband transport ports does not support the PTP protocol natively.

However, the switch will forward PTP packets that are encapsulated in IPoIB but will not participate in synchronization.

So if your network is utilizing IPoIB, and your PCs tag frames with PTP timestamps those will propagate through the network and be forwarded by the switch with no issues.
