Burnout Paradise City (the original one, not the remastered) uses DirectX 9.0c, and it seems to have broken on newer versions of the nvidia driver.
I remember back with the 560 driver I didn’t have this issue, I haven’t played the game since and now I’ve booted it up again with the latest driver 575.57.08 and the 3d graphics are completely broken.
And it’s not a proton Issue, I’ve tried both proton 10, 9 and even 8 and they showed this behavior, and 5/6 months ago last time I played the game I didn’t have this issue.
now it works for me too, I’ve reinstalled the game because maybe some files got corrupted, and I still had some broken 3d graphics but it looked different, so I’ve decided to try and change the resolution because I have a 1920 x 1200 monitor, so I’ve set the game to be 1920 x 1080 and it fixed itself, and also setting the resolution to 1920 x 1200 back again didn’t break it, so it works now.
So I’ve come to the conclusion that this game is broken on a 1920 x 1200 monitor first boot and you have to change the resolution to fix it, and I didn’t think of this at first because last time I’ve played the game I was on a 1920 x 1080 monitor and it worked out of the box, lol.
