This is with Video Codec SDK 12.1. The function always returns NV_ENC_ERR_INVALID_PARAM. This is a new bug with today’s driver update (591.44)
Please make sure you are not using deprecated presets as mentioned in
You can refer to below guide to identify corresponding preset to use
I am not using deprecated presets. You have a bug with the non-ex function. Use the samples in the 12.1 SDK, change the GetEncodePresetConfigEx function to GetEncodePresetConfig and you’ll get the error.
Same, 591.44 broke Vegas render via 5070ti with an Error 0x80660008. Cpu render works but is much slower.
Pinging @mandar_godse here.

If you don’t mind, I would like to ask for your expertise on NVENC to help us :)
NvEncGetEncodePresetConfig() only works with older presets. The fact that it worked in the older driver was a bug, and is fixed in newer driver.
Please use NvEncGetEncodePresetConfigEx() which takes both preset and tuningInfo as an input. Mapping from an older preset to newer preset and tuningInfo can be found in the preset migration guide.
Reading the GitHub mentioned in the other forum thread and testing it with Sunshine and Parsec, errors happen exclusively with h264 and h265/hevc. Parsec doesn’t have AV1, so it always falls back to software encoder, while sunshine works with nvenc but only when using AV1.
That is one way of framing the issue.. it worked for 3 years straight with NvEncGetEncodePresetConfig and the P1-P7 presets and it just stopped working in 591.44. That’s not what I would call a bug fix. We switched to the Ex function to workaround already, but thanks.
(I was referred here by customer support I hope is the right threat)
UE 5 Users are having a terrible time with these new drivers (not really sure when it started but 577 drivers seem to work “fine”). Depth of Field strong issues.
Please fix the drivers propertly, nvidia.

Hi @user144786, your post is in the wrong place. It would belong into the Unreal category, please create a new post there. Please also share more detail including your own reproduction of the issue and relevant log data.
I reviewed the UE forum thread and the data given there is rather inconclusive.
Thanks!
Thanks Markus for contacting me.
I’ve created the thread:
https://forums.developer.nvidia.com/t/pixelated-dof-on-ue-5-5-5-6-with-latest-nvidia-drivers/354500
I shared a render and I think if you do any render with 5.5 or 5.6 (and latest drivers) in which there is a significant DOF with movement you can reproduce the issue. I also shared the threat on UE forums.
If you cannot replicate the issue please let me know, I will recreate, create and share a demo project with you.
In the meantime I think others may contribute.
Regards,
