Hello
I’m using Linux Mint 22.2 with the latest kernel 6.14.0-33 and the latest nvidia driver 580.95.05-0ubuntu0.24.04.2.
The problem that while having nvidia driver 575 and the kernel 6.14.0.29 my external monitor detected properly being connected via usb-c. After some updated it’s not working and I need reconnect usb-c or reboot in order to be detected by the OS.

- NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 5090 Laptop GPU
The latest nvidia-580-open driver is not working properly with the kernel 6.14.0-32:
- Nvidia 570 and 580 IS NOT working properly with the latest kernels: 6.14.0-32 and 6.14.0-33 regrading external monitor, connected via usb-c
- The only kernel that is working properly is 6.14.0-29(delivered with Mint release) and with nvidia 580 in PERFORMANCE MODE. When switching to the ON-DEMAND mode it is recognized ONLY first time after switch on. After switch off it will NOT be recognized until reconnect usb-c cable or reboot. BUT! - If I open nvidia settings panel on “PowerMizer” menu item my monitor will be recognized properly many times (don’t know why it is like that).
Currently I deleted latest kernel and left ONLY 6.14.0-29 - in order to use my usb-c external Monitor several times I just need to open nvidia settings panel “PowerMizer” menu item and switch on my Monitor.
Do you have idea why monitor recognized (ON-DEMAND MODE) only when I’m opening settings panel and PowerMizer menu item while switching on the Monitor? Can it be related to the cinnamon? When using PERFORMANCE MODE - I don’t need to open settings as it will be recognized properly without opening settings.
I don’t know where we have a bug - 1)Kernel 2)Nvidia drivers 3)Cinnamon but I HOPE that somebody will be able to help me understand it. I mean where should I open a ticket - kernel or nvidia or Mint cinnamon?
BTW: When I’m changing on the menu item “PowerMizer” the option “Preferred mode” from “auto” to “adaptive” - it will not be saved. So, something here is not working properly when ON-DEMAND mode.
With hope
Thanks in Advance
