Hi everyone,
Brand new Gigabyte AI Top atom, updated to latest firmware, stays hot in idle. Fans won’t start in idle. I have 2 pcs same manufacture date (Jan 2026) and the other one has no issue. GPU Power on the hot one is 3W in idle (50 degrees Celsius) and the one with no issue is 5W (38 degrees Celsius) with 26 degrees Celsius ambient. Tried to reinstall both the nvidia recovery image and gigabyte recovery image. Under load the temps on both units seem the same, but on the hot one i saw higher compiling times for different tools versus the cooler one (signifficant differences for example on eugr vllm build the hot one took 12 minutes the cool one 8-9 minutes). Tested with nvidia spark field diagnostics and all pass minus the connect x7 which wasn’t connected at the time of the test. I want it to run headless and with no X loaded (multi-user.target). In X with monitor connected seems to stay lower but at higher wattage (±35W vs 20-22W in idle headless). Also tried to use sunshine for virtual display as I don’t have a headless hdmi display emulator at hand to try, but unless running X fully on a monitor i cannot see any difference in temps/power usage. Any ideas, other than returning it for RMA? Thanks.
