Issue Gradients are really bad displayed and Color Banding

Tried many different driver versions nothing helped.
Please help me as im unable to work in these conditions

Also tried to change every possible setting involving dithering etc…
Still didnt work

I see banding as well - it’s kinda totally expected given a 8bpc image/display.

You wanna get no banding? Well, Linux doesn’t quite support anything beyond 8bit at the moment.

10bit kinda sorta works in X.org except a ton of applications which totally fall apart in this mode (including Steam, Chrome, Wine and others).

Yeah but in windows the gradients were normal using same display.

I need be able to use figma .
So my only option according to you is to switch towards windows because gradients dont work in linux?

These are just screenshots from me
Here an example image where have really hard banding (non-screenshot)

You’ve uploaded two tiny pictures.

Take good shots using a decent camera, upload them as is (without resizing, etc.). Let’s see.

Make sure Windows and Linux use the same 1x scaling for this picture.

I’m almost sure you see what’s not there.

Gradients absolutely work just fine in Linux. I have perfect 24bit color mode, just like in Windows.

I uninstalled windows and switched towards ubuntu .
But i definetly know that gradients were properly displayed on windows as i do ui design.

That’s a bummer.

Not sure why you enabled dithering at all.

Yeah tried to play with these settings , nothing fixed it .
That includes deactivating dithering . Still doesnt fix it
Thank you for helping me

I’m not sure what is that you want to get from Linux. Your image is 8bit and it does have banding considering 8bit get you only ~256 shades.

It was just an example image , if i visit uiGradients - Beautiful colored gradients
I notice very hard banding and on windows not

All those pictures have banding as well in 24bit color mode.

Here’s your picture dithered, does it look OK to you?

I’m not sure the NVIDIA Windows driver has any say in how it looks. I’ve applied dithering manually according to my taste, I cannot believe this can be done automatically.

Also, imagine you’re a graphics designer. You want to see perfect colors, without any driver shenanigans.

Yeah it was firefox it works fine on chromium
Sorry for wasting time
Will close this

If it’s Firefox, make sure you’ve filed a bug report.

Though Firefox 113.0.1 works OK here.
