Graphics randomly switched to llvmpipe and nvidia-smi has failed

As of today, only my main monitor functions with terrible resolution (everything is huge). llvmpipe is being used for the graphics since the nvidia drivers are not working. When I attempt to run: nvidia-smi I get the below:

NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn’t communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.

Output of uname -r is: 5.4.0-150-generic

I have already tried sudo apt install linux-headers-$(uname -r)

the output of nvidia-bug-report.sh with root permissions is attached.

Any insight how to fix is appreciated. I hope I have tagged it to the right category.

Solved my issue after trying many options elsewhere.

Ultimately had to downgrade to another driver already installed on the Ubuntu 18.04 machine.
