Hello.
Ubuntu 20.04.6 Geforce GT 640 using 470.182.03 in an display LCD vga cable.
In Nvidia X Server Settings is showed the monitor display is an CRT and not read the EDID data from display.
I need manually configure to use 96 dpi.
However in same machine and same OS if using only the IGP Radeon HD 3000 is possible read the display EDID data.
Have any way to fix it ?

If the edid can’t be read, usually either the cable or the monitor is broken. Are you sure the radeon can read the edid or does it just allow higher resolutions per default?
Please check
xrandr --verbose
when using the radeon whether the edid is displayed.

The edid can’t be read as well on the radeon, it’s just that the amdgpu/nouveau driver default to higher resolutions in that case.
Please check/replace your cable, if that yield nothing, you’ll either have to create an xorg.conf setting HorizSync/VertRefresh values manually or attach a fake edid using the CustomEDID option.

Strangely not is being possible read the LCD monitor EDID when using Geforce GT 640 and thus the video card use as being CRT.
How use an “fake” edid using the CustomEDID option using the EDID data from xrandr command done in Radeon ?
